Attractions at a Casino

Casino was Martin Scorsese’s most violent movie, but it wasn’t just for style or shock value. The scenes involving the torture of a man with a vice, the attempted murder of De Niro using a car bomb and Joe Pesci getting buried alive are all based on true incidents. The underlying truth is that casinos have a reputation for being dangerous places where people try to cheat, steal and scam their way to a jackpot instead of simply gambling and winning by random chance.

Something about the atmosphere of casinos seems to encourage these types of illegal activities, which is why many casinos have elaborate security systems in place. Elaborate cameras watch every table, window and doorway and can be focused on suspicious patrons by security workers in a room filled with banks of monitors. These cameras can even be turned on remotely by security personnel to watch a particular patron from the ceiling, without the patron knowing that he or she is being watched.

Besides these technological security measures, most casinos have a host of other attractions designed to keep patrons on the premises longer and betting more money. These attractions include entertainment, restaurants and buffets and other amenities that give the casino a more desirable image than just a gaming facility. Casinos also promote responsible gambling and have customer service policies that encourage guests to gamble responsibly. A good customer service policy includes quick and reliable payouts to reduce the amount of time customers spend waiting for their money.
